His subjects are bathed in evening, night, morning or midday light, and sometimes even electric interior light.<\/p>\n<p>Portraits, animals, urban or wild landscapes are like thoughts and memories that memory tries to reinterpret and give meaning to, like giving birth. Didier reminds us of all the desire it takes to paint and share what was a traumatic experience. The latter is not necessarily negative; it is simply the imprint of a moment passed in order to make a work, the indispensable moment of a form of epiphany in the making.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"grve-empty-space grve-height-1x\"><\/div>[vc_column_text text_style=&#8221;subtitle&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1693557249571{padding-bottom: 10px !important;}&#8221;]<strong>Biography<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1693558231438{padding-bottom: 42px !important;}&#8221;]Didier Paquignon was born on 30 September 1958 in Paris, where he lives and works.<br \/>\nBetween 1974 and 1977, he attended the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Arts Appliqu\u00e9s et des M\u00e9tiers d&#8217;Arts, Olivier de Serre in Paris, then, between 1984 and 1986, he continued his studies at the \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in the morphology department and in Leonardo Cremonini&#8217;s studio. Between 1987 and 1988, he lived and worked at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Vieux-Colombier in Paris, which was unoccupied at the time. There he painted the Th\u00e9\u00e2tres rouges series. He has made frequent trips to Greece since 1984, settling in Athens in 1989. He painted in the port of Piraeus, in Keratsini and in Eleusis. He joined the Berggruen gallery in Paris in 1988.<br \/>\nIn 1990, Olivier Etcheverry, director of the Arles Dance Festival, invited him to a heavy metal factory where choreographer Mark Tompkins was creating Moving Pictures. He produced a series of paintings and large charcoals of the factory. From 1990 onwards, he produced paintings for cinema and television. He travelled to the Republic of Albania (Shqip\u00ebri) in 1996 and painted the Bunkers series. He stayed in residence at the Ch\u00e2teau de Lourmarin, part of the Acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
